Ice Skating Snowman Shelf Sitter ~ #SC025 ~ Original Paxton Valley Folk Art Design

Meet Silas, the ice skating snowman.  Hand crafted by me from my own design, Silas is a primitive soft sculpture shelf sitter made from quilted muslin, homespun and cotton muslin.  He measures about 9" (23 cm) tall when sitting and is about 3 1/2" (9 cm) wide and his long, skinny legs stretch out in front of him by about 8 1/2" (21.5 cm).  He has button eyes, a wooden skewer nose, a handpainted mouth and three rusty jingle bells on his tummy.  His ice skates have been painted on with acrylic paint and tied up with some button thread.  His skate blades are crafted from a piece of rusty wire.  He has a cotton knit touque (or stocking cap for my American friends), a torn homespun scarf and he is holding onto a snowball crafted from muslin and sprinkled with German glass glitter.  He's had a bath in my coffee, vanilla and spice mixture for an aged appearance.

Angel Of Spring Shelf Sitter Doll ~ #SC024 ~ Original Paxton Valley Folk Art Design

Meet Serafina, the Angel of Spring shelf sitter doll.  Handcrafted by me from my own design, she is crafted from painted and stained muslin, lace and a pretty spring cotton print.  Her features and hair are hand painted and she has sewn muslin eyelids.  Her wings have been crafted from sheet music printed onto aged card stock and the song is entitled "The Flowers That Bloom In The Spring" from the "Mikado".  She has a halo headband crafted from braided jute, into which I've entwined some faux spring grass and flowers, and she is holding a bouquet of Spring posies in her hands so she can sprinkle them about as she flies.  Her dress is made from a cheerful cotton print that's been aged in my coffee, vanilla and spice mixture and her collar is crafted from aged lace.  Serafina measures about 11" (28 cm) tall when sitting and her body is 5" (12.5 cm) wide.  With her wings, she measures about 8" (20 cm) wide and her legs extend out in front of her about 7 1/2" (19 cm), so her total length when extended is 18 1/2" (47 cm).  Serafina will come to you signed and dated by me.  Please note that Serafina is NOT a toy and is not suitable for young children, she is intended for display purposes only.

Peep Flower Pinkeep ~ #SC023 ~ Original Paxton Valley Folk Art Design

Here's a little flower pinkeep for Spring with a wee peep perched on top.  Handcrafted by me from my own design, the peep is crafted from painted and stained muslin and has french knot eyes, a pip berry collar and a little aged hang tag attached with a rusted safety pin that says 'Peep Pinkeep'.  The flower pincushion is made of a fun polka dot cotton print that I've aged in my coffee, vanilla and spice mixture and has mismatched vintage buttons front and back.  The pinkeep measures about 4" (10.25 cm) wide by 3 1/2" (9 cm) tall, including the chick.

Welcome Spring Framed Cross Stitch ~ ST#001 ~ Subrosa Design

Here's a lovely Spring design from Subrosa featuring some lovely bunnies, tulips and the words 'Welcome Spring' that I stitched on 14 count beige Aida cloth with Valdani floss.  The finished cross stitch has been gently tea stained for an aged appearance and mounted into a frame that I have painted and distressed.  The frame also got a coat of antiquing varnish for an old time feel.  The frame measures 8 1/2" (21.5 cm) by 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) and the opening for the cross stitch measures 5 1/2" (14 cm) by 3 3/4" (9.5 cm).  The frame has both a stand and a hanger on the back so you can display it on a shelf or hang it on the wall.

Black Cat and Bluebird Shelf Sitter ~#SC022 ~ Original Paxton Valley Folk Art Design

Meet Calista, the black cat and her friend Blythe, the bluebird!  Although Calista looks a little bemused at the fact Blythe is perching on her tail, she is really quite happy to have her friend with her.  This primitive shelf sitter has been crafted from painted and stained muslin from my own design and measures about 10" (25.5 cm) tall by 5 1/2" (14 cm) wide.  Calista has a boxed bottom so she will sit very nicely on your desk or shelf and Blythe has been securely attached to Calista's tail with a piece of wire glued into place and then hand stitched as well.  The entire shelf sitter has been sanded after painting and then given a bath in my coffee, vanilla and spice mixture for an aged appearance.  Calista's features have been hand painted and she has button thread whiskers and a rusted wire collar with a rusty jingle bell attached.  Her paws have been naively embroidered with button thread as well.  Blythe's eyes are embroidery floss french knots, her beak is hand painted and her wings have been hand sewn onto her body.

Watermelon Bowl Fillers ~ #BF028 ~ Original Paxton Valley Folk Art Design

Remember spittin' seeds at your brother or sister?! Well, here are some primitive watermelon bowl fillers to remind you of the lazy, hazy days of summer.  Hand crafted by me from my own original design, these substantial slices of watermelon are made from hand painted and stained muslin.  There are three 1/2 slices that measure about 7" long by 3" tall and about 1 3/4" wide along the rind and four 1/4 slices that measure about 5" long by 4" wide and the same depth along the rind side.  They come complete with the walnut aged hang tag as pictured that says 'Watermelon 5¢' with a vintage fruit label watermelon image decoupaged onto it.

Valentine's Day wouldn't be complete without a primitive crow or two! So here is my original design for a Love Crow Door Hanger featuring a prim crow perched on a Valentine heart. Hand crafted from painted and stained muslin, this door hanger measures about 8" by 6" and the total hanging length including the homespun hanger is about 11". The crow has a hang tag in his beak that's been aged with some walnut stain that has the word 'Love' hand stamped on it and there is some Sweet Annie tucked in behind him. The heart has an aged strip of torn muslin on it attached with rusted safety pins that has the hand lettered words 'Be Mine' on it.

Valentine Heart Bowl Fillers ~ #BF036 ~ Original Paxton Valley Folk Art Design

Here is a bowl full of vintage inspired hearts to give to your sweetheart this Valentine's Day.   Hand crafted from my own design from red and cream toile print fabrics, these hearts have had a bath in my coffee, vanilla and spice mixture for an aged appearance.  There is one large heart that measures about 7" by 6" and two smaller hearts that each measure about 6" by 4 1/2".  Each heart has a strip of torn, aged muslin attached with some rusted safety pins that I've either hand stamped or hand written a Valentine sentiment on.  The large heart also has a hang tag aged with some walnut ink that has a vintage Valentine image decoupaged onto it.   Please note that the bowl and fixings pictured are not included and are for display purposes only and that the fabrics used may vary depending upon what I have on hand when I receive your order.

Every house needs a black cat so here's a primitive black cat and pumpkin stump doll to make your home complete!  Crafted from painted and stained muslin, this shelf sitter measures about 8 1/2" tall by 6" wide by 5 1/2" deep.  He's got an embroidered nose and mismatched button eyes and a rusty wire collar with three rusty jingle bells.  His pumpkin has a stick for a stem, some green painted aged cheesecloth leaves and is wrapped with some more rusty wire.  From a pattern by Olde Rustic Prims.

I love vintage graphics so when I found these beauties at The Graphics Fairy blog, I knew I had to use them.  Here are three pillow bowl fillers crafted from stained muslin and coordinating cotton print fabrics that I've transferred vintage Christmas images onto.  There is a beautiful young girl holding a Christmas tree that measures about 4" by 3", a wreath frame enclosing the words 'Joy To The World' that measures about 4" by 3 1/2" and a vintage Santa and his sleigh that measures about 4 by 3 1/2".  I've added a dusting of mica flakes around each of the transferred images for a little sparkle and the pillow tucks are backed with coordinating fabrics that have a vintage feel.

Here's a little mitten Christmas ornament that I've appliqued with a felt snowman from my own design.  This mitten measures about 5 1/2" long by 3 1/2" wide and hangs a total length of 7".  Crafted from stained muslin and warm n' natural quilt batting, the snowman has been appliqued in place with embroidery floss using a blanket stitch, straight stitch and french knots.  I've dusted the mitten with a few mica flakes so it will sparkle in the lights of your Christmas tree.

Here's a cute snowman poke or plant poke to help you with your Christmas and winter decorating this year. Crafted onto a vintage wooden textile bobbin, this snowman is made from cotton muslin and has a hand painted face. He measures about 14" tall by 5" wide. His top hat has been hand stitched from felt and has a blanket embroidery stitch around the edge of the brim. His hat band is crafted from stained muslin and I've hand stamped the word 'Frosty' with some stamped snowflakes onto it. His nose is made from a wooden shishkabob skewer :O) His scarf is a piece of torn homespun which I've embellished with some rusted jingle bells and he has a hang tag attached with a rusty safety pin (and another jingle bell) that says "Let It Snow!"
